The ultra-compact Sennheiser AVX-ME2 SET provides professional videographers, video journalists, and vloggers with a dependable wireless microphone system that’s so easy to use, it’s like having a dedicated sound engineer on set handling audio tasks.
Made with simplicity in mind, but without compromising audio quality, this self-configuring digital system handles time-consuming frequency setup and mic-level adjustments for you, so you’re ready to shoot within seconds. Now, you can focus on the other critical elements vying for your attention during a shoot, and confidently record crisp, clear audio on your camcorder, DSLR, or mirrorless camera.
In addition to a bodypack transmitter and camera-mount receiver, this set comes with a black ME 2-II omnidirectional lavalier mic, ideal for projects ranging from wedding and corporate videos to documentaries and hands-free interviews.
The lightweight AVX system is easy to carry with you when every ounce counts. The roadworthy bodypack transmitter features a rugged metal chassis with a form factor even smaller than the ew G4. Its locking connector ensures that your lav doesn’t detach at a critical moment, while a convenient switch allows you to mute your mic. The display shows battery life and signal strength. The discreet receiver plugs directly into the XLR input of your camcorder and rotates 320° to get out of the way of lights or other accessories you may have mounted on your camera. An AF button on the receiver allows you to adjust the output level to your camera, if necessary. In addition, the receiver comes with a shoe mount and 3.5mm output cable, making it a great fit for DSLR and mirrorless shooters. The digital AVX automatically finds the cleanest frequency in the 1.9 GHz band as soon as you power up the receiver. A long press of the Pair button on both receiver and transmitter links the two devices. Once the indicator LED turns green, you’re good to go.
The AVX transmitter and receiver both feature removable, lithium-ion batteries that are recharged via the USB port.
The transmitter gives you up to 15 hours of battery life, while the receiver is limited to 4 hours.
The receiver turns itself on and off when it senses phantom power from your camcorder, extending battery life in the field.
The transmitter and receiver can also be powered through their USB ports, allowing them to run for numerous hours on a USB power pack or indefinitely, if you have access to AC.
The included BA 30 battery for the transmitter and BA 20 for the receiver are also available separately, so you can have fully charged spare batteries ready in the field.

The microphone exhibits a hypercardioid polar pattern at low to midrange frequencies and transitions to a lobar pattern in high frequencies, allowing it to attenuate 125 Hz to 2 kHz by approximately 10 dB at the 90° off-axis points. Your dialogue, foley, and sound effects can be recorded with full dynamics and clarity, thanks to the MKH 416-P48U3’s wide frequency response, enhanced consonant articulation, and high SPL handling.
The MKH 416-P48U3 was engineered with the experienced professional in mind. Its 40 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response incorporates a gentle rise from 5 to 15 kHz to increase intelligibility, and a natural bass roll-off to mitigate rumble. Its low self-noise of 13 dBA and high sensitivity of -32 dB enable studio-worthy signal purity without requiring noise reduction and gain boosting in postproduction.
The MKH 416-P48U3 boasts a transformerless and fully floating balanced output for optimal signal integrity. Thanks to its 3-pin XLR output and compliance with 44 to 52 VDC phantom power, the MKH 416-P48U3 is compatible with a variety of handheld audio recorders, field recorders, and mixer adapters, as well as built-in preamps on many camcorders and cinema cameras.
The MKH 416-P48U3’s metal body features a matte black finish to prevent distracting visual reflections. Mount the MKH 416-P48U3 directly on a stand or boompole using the supplied MZQ 100 clip. Alternatively, place the MKH 416-P48U3 in the separately available Sennheiser MZS 20-1 combination shockmount, pistol grip, and stand adapter to prevent the transfer of vibrations to the microphone.
The MKH 416-P48U3 has a foam windscreen to reduce unwanted wind noise from breezes, fans, heaters, and air conditioners. For maximum reduction of wind noise in indoor or outdoor environments, consider the Sennheiser MZH 60-1 furry windshield (available separately).
The Boompole Pro is a precision-balanced professional boompole for location recording. Made from carbon fibre, the Boompole Pro is strong and ultra lightweight. It weighs just 535 grams and has a reach of 3 metres. It features an ergonomic grip and intuitive lock/release system that makes it easy to extend and retract.
The Blimp is the ultimate windshield and shock mounting system for RØDE shotgun microphones, as well as any third-party shotgun microphone up to 325mm in length. It features a Rycote® Lyre® suspension system for superior isolation from handling noise, plus an ultra-lightweight and ergonomic handle. Housed inside the grip is a heavy-duty Mogami® cable that splits via a junction box to a flexible thin cable inside the Blimp, which minimise the transference of vibration to the microphone.
The Blimp attaches to any standard boompole with a 3/8-inch thread attachment at the base. The Universal Blimp Mount is available as an option to remove the handle when the Blimp is being used primarily on a boompole. The Dead Wombat windshield, caring brush and tail/patch cable are included.
Rental T&C. Most rentals are done via FatLlama. For qualifying corporate clients we might be able to do ad-hoc contracts directly with our company. The procedure for hiring gear from us involves registering on the FatLlama website and providing details (such as proof of ID). When picking up the equipment you'll need to provide your ID (e.g. passport) and proof of address. In case you damage the equipment, you’ll take care of the repairs yourself. Any days lost due to the item being repaired will be charged as standard rental fees. Pickups and returns must be at the same hours and location. Late returns will be charged (One day rental = 24h).
Rental Approval Time. Please allow at least two days for the approval process.
Location and Delivery. Deliveries and returns are normally done in person at our address in Cambridge (see item location on FatLlama). Depending on circumstances we might deliver and collect the items at your doorstep.
